esx
By default, when you install ESX 4.0, the root access is disable. To enable it, you can follow bellow step.
1. Press ALT+F1 to access the console and login as root
2. vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
3. Look for PermitRootLogin and change it to yes
#LoginGraceTime 2m
PermitRootLogin yes
#StrictModes yes
#MaxAuthTries 6
4. Restart the sshd service
# service sshd restart
If you want to ssh to another server in esx, by default it being block. You will get port 22: connection refused error so, execute below command as root to open firewall ports.
# esxcfg-firewall -e sshServer
# esxcfg-firewall -e sshClient
Good Luck!

I am very familiar with RedHat Linux for enabling and disable the GUI. Just changing the /etc/inittab file. As lot of customer using Solaris compare to Linux, so I need to upgrade my knowledge with this OS. I installed Solaris 10 x86 and play around with it. But the problem is, I have limited in resources, so I need to disable the GUI desktop to free unused resources.
Sample of /etc/inittab (RedHat Linux)
#
# inittab This file describes how the INIT process should set up
# the system in a certain run-level.
#
# Author: Miquel van Smoorenburg,
# Modified for RHS Linux by Marc Ewing and Donnie Barnes
#
# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)

Change the default run level in /etc/inittab to 5

I’ve tested this on Solaris 10 and it work.

When a node in RAC stops & re-start, oracle clusterware try to start the instance as soon as node starts. This may not be desirable, because instance start-up may fail, if system components on which instance depends are not ready
For example: Volume Manager is not started, file system is not mounted automatically
This scenario might occur, if oracle clusterware does not manage system components.
To manager automatic restart, we can use AUTO_START attribute.
AUTO_START parameter may have three values
1. always (1)
2. restore (0)
3. never (2)
How to change this parameter?
$ crs_stat -p <resource name> <filename>.cap
then change AUTO_START to a new value
$ vi <filename>.cap
$ crs_register -u <resource name >
verify the change by
$ crs_stat -p <resource name >
BTW, this method can be used for any resource. Just make sure you know what you’re doing.Backup the crs and you can messup with the CRS. Good luck with that.

After installing openfiler, then I keep getting this error. Inside /var/log/messages and sometimes in console.
I though it is because my hard disk corrupt. Then I google and found out the solution.
Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block 0
What do they mean? How do I fix this problem?
A. This message appears when you don’t have a floppy drive attached to Linux server. Solution is quite simple just disable driver for floppy and reboot the system. You can verify this with the following command (this solution works with RHEL, CentOS, Redhat, Ubuntu/Debian and other Linux distros) :
# lsmod | grep -i floppy
Output:
floppy 95465 0
In my case, there is no /etc/modprobe.d, so i create the folder
# mkdir -p /etc/modprobe.d
Then, I create this file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist:
# vi /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
Listing a module (driver name) in this file prevents the hotplug scripts from loading it. Usually that’d be so that some other driver will bind it instead,
no matter which driver happens to get probed first. Sometimes user mode tools can also control driver binding. Append following line:
blacklist floppy
# more/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
blacklist floppy
Save and close the file. Now reboot the Linux server:
# reboot

Full view of the car..
June 18, 2009, My fiance and I were heading to KFC Petaling Jaya for our dinner. It’s about 810pm when we start leaving her house. From Vista Angkasa, I need to get into Federal Highway lane, as I getting into, of course with signal, there is one Ford Escape(I know it after the accident) horn me, maybe I’m to close to him. Then, what ever.
After that, horn drama happened, that car keep horn and driving close to me. What the heck are you doing, who do you thing you’re? I slow down my car to let the guy pass through me, but he didn’t want to. Keep horn, and I also horn back..haha..that’s my mistake la.
After 500m, I need to turn left to Jalan Timur headed to Petaling Jaya KFC, that guy still follow me so close. At that time, my speed only 30-40km/h. Few meter in front, there is one traffic light. It’s RED! So I slow my car and what can I do, brake la. That stupid guy didn’t realize the traffic light is RED and hit my car.
After hit my car once, that guy didn’t satisfied and keep pressing fuel pedal until I have to pull up my handbrake and change to P gear. After the guy stop, the guy and I come out from car, and he attack me. Lucky with my martial art defense skill I manage to block his punch. Never the less, he pull my shirt and throw me into the road. What can I do, he’s not my opponent. Big fat and huge body. I try to run away from this crazy malay guy, f**king crazy MALAY guy with his wife and 2 small kid. I’m very2 sad for his wife and kid.

Beware of this violence people...
After that, My fiance and I headed to the nearest police station. IPD Petaling Jaya (Trafic) and lodge a report for the accident and the attack.
For all the driver outside there, be careful when driving. Especially with this kind of people. Btw, he’s plate no is AEG9898 Ford Escape. Anybody seen this car, please beware. The person inside the car is crazy and violent.

Stupid AEG9898 Ford escape

Beware of this Violence crazy guy!
