Enable or Disable GUI for LINUX and SOLARIS

I am very familiar with RedHat Linux for enabling and disable the GUI. Just changing the /etc/inittab file. As lot of customer using Solaris compare to Linux, so I need to upgrade my knowledge with this OS. I installed Solaris 10 x86 and play around with it. But the problem is, I have limited in resources, so I need to disable the GUI desktop to free unused resources.

Disable GUI
Change the default run level in /etc/inittab to 3

Enable GUI
Change the default run level in /etc/inittab to 5

I’ve tested this on Solaris 10 and it work.

Disable GUI
# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -d

Enable GUI
# /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

it’s been a long long time I didn’t update my blog, my gallery, my km and my website. hth-i.com still under maintainence..haha.. Edi 4 month.. no one pay to update this.. no money, no code!

Day by day..they put lot of work into us. Past few week, I only had to check 25 databases daily..now it increase to 41 database. I got to check the Patrol and Precise.. it’s for daily database health check. This 2 job take more that 3 hour to finish..

start working at 2pm, then finish this checking around 530pm..if and only if there is no problem with the patrol and precise connection..

then..after that..independent day..yehaa.. ‘muat turun’ time!! latest heroes s03e13, prison break s04e15..

Dinner with our AIC (Piyush)

On Dec 3rd, Our AIC (Piyush) invite all of us, Malaysia dba to have dinner with him at Yatri Nivas hostel.

so, because of that I have to work on 1st shift. 6am – 2pm. Then take a bus from STC to town at 3pm.. we arrive at town around 4pm. Then I walk alone to Airtel building to topup.

After that, I stand in the middle of junction to see how indian people drive. As in the video clip I watch back in Malaysia..yeah..it same!! After 30 minutes watching them, I decide to leave..

Without any plan, I just walk back to Mayfair and suddenly I saw Sani, Kumaran and Das at the bus stop. I bring them to see ‘india imbi’..haha.. don’t think in Malaysia only got imbi aaa. Sani, Kumaran and Das just arrived here on Nov 30. So, their 3rd day in India that day.

…then we all wait at Take Away restaurant nearby Yatri Nivas hotel. Around 7pm, Raghuveer call us to come inside the hotel.. We have to wait around 30minutes before Piyush come..

After that we start to order drink, I order Cold Coffee with Ice Cream, Ilan order 1 bottle of Tiger bear and after that Piyush order Chicken 65, Chilly Fish and Chilly Loose Prawns.. After finish all that, I started thinking..wtf.. no rice, no other food.. only ‘lauk aa’..waaa.. the he ask us to order the main food.

I smile and order..1st person to order.. haha.. Mixed Grill Sizzler (Large)..rs290..’xmain ar small’..
we all have to wait 45minutes for the food..after finish dinner, we enter the club nearby for few minute than leave…we ask the guard to take picture of all us.

Suddenly he  wanna send us to the bus stop. We all have to follow as he is our AIC. The bus stop is just around 300m from the hotel. At the time we about to arived, we all saw 1 satyam bus about to leave, so Piyush overtake the bus and stop it. Then we’ll realize that’s not the bus to STC.

Then we told him, its ok we can walk from here to the bus stop. he insist and ask us to get back in car. He and raghuveer, reverse the car and drive in wrong way.. arrrh..’ini semua keja org gila’..hahah..

he park his car nearby the bus station and wait till the bus come. After all of us get in the bus, then he leave.. ’segan gila beb’.. it’s like father that care so much his son. Some of picture to share..
